About the Edition

In this thesis we compute the hydrodynamic scaling limit of the continuum solid-on-solid model. The model, also known as the fourth order Ginzburg-Landau model, has been built to understand the relaxation to equilibrium of a crystal surface through surface diffusion. We use Varadhan"s method developed to compute the scaling limit of nongradient models. To prove the decomposition theorem for the space of closed functions we use Fourier analysis. The complete result is just for a quadratic potential.
